“Equal parts devotion, subversion and wit.”-- A satirical folk-rock musical-variety-show based on the fantastical, gruesome, salacious, inspiring stories of Catholic Saints. DMLRR’s The Saints reimagines Catholic lore to explore the intersection of entertainment and faith, with stories of saints ranging from the famous, St. Francis, to the obscure, St. Ursula and the 11,000 Virgins. The Saints is an exploration of various theatrical forms such as vaudeville, puppetry, movement, a wide range of musical styles, and a harkening back to story wagons and medicine shows.
DMLRR’s The Saints was first performed to rave reviews and sold-out houses in Washington DC’s Capital Fringe Festival with a cast of 9 actor-musicians. This intimate, stripped down, 2-person adaptation, performed by the writers and creators of DMLRR, takes audiences on a kaleidoscopic journey that is simultaneously absurd and affecting.
“Dizzy Miss Lizzie are alchemical fringe rock-n-roll magic geniuses, and there’s no reason to miss them.” Washington City Paper
“This being rock and roll, it's all done with equal parts devotion, subversion and wit... Dizzy Miss Lizzie looks so fine. The muscular high-spirited music and appealingly casual atmosphere have no trouble creating new converts.”
The Washington Post
“DMLRR’s musical revue about the lives of a handful of Catholic saints was nothing short of heavenly.” DC Theatre Scene
Conceived by Debra Buonaccorsi and Steve McWilliams, Dizzy Miss Lizzie’s Roadside Revue is an interdisciplinary theatre company; “rock concert as literary satire.” DMLRR produces original works, adapting mythology and literary works into raucous, engaging, utterly modern tales, performing in Washington DC at the Capital Fringe, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and Keegan Theatre, in NYC at the New York Musical Festival, and the 2026 Pittsburgh and Cincinnati Fringes. DMLRR is the 2012 recipient of Washington DC’s Helen Hayes-John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. Their work is based on the idea that joy elicits connection and that theatre sparks the imagination.
