Dizzy Miss Lizzie's ROadside Revue presents The Saints

Book by Debra Buonaccorsi, Music & Lyrics by Debra Buonaccorsi and Steve McWilliams

Saints, sinners, sex, drugs and rock and roll. Imagine Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, St. Augustine, and a bevy of virgin martyrs singing songs around a celestial campfire. Virtue and vaudeville, burlesque and the blessed; DMLRR's The Saints, where the revival tent meets  the carnival tent.

Production History

World premiere, Capital Fringe Festival, DC, 2009

Washington City Paper, July 11, 2009

The voices are strong, the humor agreeably naughty, and the songs a tasty mix that ranges from rousing little foursquare rockers to soaring, scorching anthems to bluesy brags so swampily accomplished you’ll be thinking, “Hey, that would be perfect with a little harmonica” — just about the time Klein’s strapping St. Ursula pulls a Hohner out of her brassiere.  Washington City Paper  https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/338596/hip-shot-the-saints/

The Washington Post, July 23, 2009

This being rock and roll, it's all done with equal parts devotion, subversion and wit... Dizzy Miss Lizzie looks so fine: The muscular high-spirited music and appealingly casual atmosphere have no trouble creating new converts.  Washington Post
