Flowers Stink

Words & Music by Debra Buonaccorsi and Steve McWilliams

"When you live in the big city, a.k.a. "the concrete jungle," sometimes it's hard to appreciate the great outdoors. That's definitely the case with one middle school girl, who's struggling with writing a nature-themed poem for school. Giving up, she tweets "#poetryisstupid #natureisboring #flowersstink." Suddenly, two zany and loveable plants come to life in her room, encouraging her to open her eyes, ears, and mind to the beauty all around her." from the Kennedy Center Performances for Young Audiences season brochure, 2015-2016

Helen Hayes Award Nominee, Outstanding Production Theatre for Young Audiences,  2015.

A world premiere Kennedy Center musical co-commissioned by the U.S. Botanic Garden.

Premiered September 26th, 2015 at the United States  Botanic Garden Amphitheatre Stage.

Directed by Gregg Henry
